Anthony Farquhar-Smith

Stop motion director Anthony Farquhar Smith is known for his story telling and unique animation style. Whether directing numerous television commercials or working with feature film directors like Wes Anderson and Tim Burton, he is known for his ability to bring inanimate objects to life and to give them personality and feeling. 

In his technical approach, Anthony uses both traditional stop motion techniques and modern digital tools. But whatever the method, his craft always drives the individual story being told. Through Smoking Hippo, Anthony has produced several of his own short films, including the award winning ‘Stick Out.’ He is currently in production on his new short film ‘Drawer.’

Anthony acted as Animation Supervisor on the John Lewis Christmas advert ‘Give a Little Love,’ which won numerous awards including a D&AD wooden pencil.­­­­­
