Mike Palafox directs food because, frankly, he’s obsessed with it. The sizzle, the drip, the mess, the ritual, and the people gathered around it.
After more than 20 years in production, he moves between precision tabletop and directing actors, lighting his own commercials and stepping in as cinematographer for other directors. Beautiful pictures are nice. Making someone hungry is better.
Born in Mexico City to two commercial directors, Mike was more or less doomed to end up behind a camera. He later trained at the London Film School and created and directed Al Chile, a James Beard Award nominated food series for ViX.
When he’s not shooting food, he’s usually eating it, writing about it, photographing it, or arguing about where to find the good stuff.
