Paul is a specialist in high-speed cinematography and has over twelve years experience in working with Phantom cameras. He was one of the early adopters of the technology and became the first director of photography in the world to own a Phantom camera system back in 2007 and is now one of the leading experts in this field. Paul saw the huge potential the camera could offer to the world of film and TV and wanted to take the camera from its scientific research roots into more dramatic and cinematic shooting.
Paul was to have major input into developing the camera for this purpose and his experience with the camera led him to consulting on the BBC program Frozen Plant in 2009. In 2011, a collaborative project with Director Chris Gaffey saw Paul further explore and test the artistic capabilities of the Phantom in ambient low light conditions, with the resulting film “Autumn” receiving its premier screening by Vision Research at the BVE, in Earls Court, London.
Paul’s professionalism, tenacity and attention to detail within the sphere of tabletop filming are self-evident in his showreel. But his broad experience born from 30 years in film, TV and TV commercials also gives him a full appreciation of contemporary multi-platform communications and a continuing desire to capture stunning images and visually compelling experiences for the screen.
